About Us

Shishukunj in Dar-es-Salaam started from 23rd June 1955.

The main aim and objective of Shishukunj is:

  • To promote, to develop and to protect Artistic, Cultural, Social, Religious and Educational interest in Child.
  • It means ‘Abode (place) for fine Arts such as Music, Acting, Dancing, Drawing, Writing, Sculpture etc.

The activities performed in Shishukunj include:
Prayers, Slokas, Bhajans, Sports.

Baal-Sabha (Children’s Assembly):
Programmes performed here are Story telling, Baal-geet (devotional songs), Dramatics, Skits, Dancing like Raas, Garba and other programmes like brainstorming riddles and jokes.

Dar-Es-Salaam Shishukunj completed 60 years in 2015 and celebrated the occasion by organizing week long activities for children. From 26th June to 5th July various activities were organised like sports day, fun fair, Birthday Card making and Best out of Waste competition, cultural event with dinner and a picnic for baalako which they enjoyed a lot. Diwali was celebrated at Shishukunj by organizing Diwali Card making competition and Rangoli competition followed by Diwali party.

At present there are 90 baalako attending Shishukunj every Sunday. Since its inception Dar-Es-Salaam is contributing in the field of development of children by Kunj Activities.
