Shishukunj USA, Inc. (“Shishukunj”) is an institution dedicated to the welfare and cultural development of children, run entirely by volunteers for the benefit of children. It provides a healthy environment, rich in positive values, which will allow the hidden potential within each child to flourish. Shishukunj focuses on three areas: Shikshan (Education), Sewa (Charity), and Baal Pravuti (Child Welfare).
For the first fund raising event, Dileshbhai single-handedly raised $1,438.00 by running LA Marathon in March 2013.
In addition, a separate drive was done to collect bag packs. Most of the fund raised by Dileshbhai was used to purchase 150 new “Bag Packs”. The bags filled with the school supplies (age appropriate) were distributed from July 27 to August 2. About 1100 children, aged between 6-16 were transported by school buses and rented vans from the shelters and group homes to the distribution venue. They were provided dental exams, haircuts, hearing and vision screening. Lunch and other fun-filled activities made the children’s day. They left with the filled bag packs.
